Do the Easy Stuff 1st
« on: July 13, 2009, 09:03:57 pm »
Short story about my 87 tbi-The other day we had a big birthday bash for Bella, our 5 yr old granddaughter. after the party, my daughter ( WHO'S SINGLE ) had to return the tables & chairs back to the local Baptist church. So I loaded them up for her and went up to the house. Ten  minutes later she comes in the house, "Daddy, the truck won't start!" Getting ready to go away, I had to wait til the next day to unload everything and reload it all into my newer truck. Now boys, those 8 ft long compressed board tables got heavy. I'm  not a real big guy.. so anyway, after an hour of troubleshooting and stuff I hadn't come up with anything, and getting short tempered, I got back into the driver's seat to see (DUH) if the truck would start when I switched the fuel tank to the 2nd tank. Varoom- it started right up..  so I cut it off, switched back to the 1st tank and started it again- Varoom, it started right up.
I figured out that my granddaughter ,birthday girl, had bumped the fuel selector switch when she got in the truck and the switch was halfway between the left and right tanks- so nether would receive a signal to start its pump. I never noticed the halfway- made position of the switch, so it worked when I pushed to the correct position.  Just goes to show ya- I ain't getting any smarter.  :D

It happens to all of us. I about went crazy a while back wondering what tool you would use to get to the rear bolts underneath the bench seat. It was probably a good half hour before I was given the bright idea "hey... why not scoot the seat up. theyre easier to reach that way."
