1977 GMC Panel in progress
« on: July 20, 2009, 11:17:48 pm »
High I' been working on this for a few months now and I would like to know if any one had ever seen or knew if GM ever built one  ,A panel Truck or wagon, between 77 and 88.
I'm just wondering I liked the older ones but this is my favorite body style

Here's some pics of my progress

Filing in the Lt rear window hole and bracing opening

Welded in

fitting fill panel

welded and guide paint

The white paint is excess paint from another project don't make fun.

Hopefully I can get to the filler this week, but with kids out of school, work slow and wife working full time nights hard to find time.
But still having fun. Too many projects not enough time

Update
Yesterday my wife decided  to run her 89 SHO through a barbed wire fence took out 6 Ceder posts and 70ft of fence She's  Fine (in more ways than one) 3 stitches in here arm. but this is going to delay MY PANEL a couple of weeks. Here's a link if your interested http://s577.photobucket.com/albums/ss215/reinovator/Sho%20Vs%20Barbwire%20Fence/

But this will give me some practice, since its a Black 'Fix Or Repair Daily' and her baby may be she by me the Chrome I wanted after I fix it.
Did you Know? some species of wild rabbit were protected in the 4 corners area.
My wife  got lucky the Sheriff said The Rabbit was at fault he shouldn't have been so close to the high way so he wasn't going to turn my wife in to the wild life commission.

Sorry to see that. ouch. I hope theirs no long term pain. you topped me.my wife.
the only difference . is my wife hit rabbit 60 feet  off the road and 100 feet from where she went through the fence.
yes it was a 'Found On Road Dead' But it gets 28mpg And I'll probably get away with only paying about 300 for parts and mybe another 200 for paint if I  do a quickie. most likely closer to 300 for paint and 200 for euro prime,

I'll still come out ahead Got my lady in one piece. some left over paint and primer and above all a happy wife.

Then back to work on my panel truck

but she may want a dragon air brushed on the hood their goes my next month.
got to think positive she'll be happy. she'll be happy.................

yeah the main thing i learned from my accident is life is to short to worry about mechanical life, 28mps sound like my impala going 70 on the highway it was getting an avg of 28. lost the car but kept my life. once i realized life it to short and fragile i finally married my wife that I've been with since high school for 7 years she waited for me to settle down and it almost took my life to realize it was time to settel down at least with her ::). while your at it put a push bar on the front of that thing

If it werent for the fact that its a SHO, Id say no loss. Those are pretty cool cars. Besides, It looked like it needed a paint job anyway.
