1986 silverado
« on: July 21, 2009, 11:24:19 pm »
I just picked up my "new" 1986 chevy 3/4ton, this is my first 4wd truck, i recently just sold my first truck that was a 1974 C20 with only 55k on it, it was nice but i really wanted a 4wd 73-87, but im new to the trucks and this is my new "project"

Anyways, about the truck, its a 1986 chevy has a c-10 cab/bed swapped onto a 3/4 ton chassis, has a lightly built 350 with a turbo 350 trans, 208 t-case, and i wana say the lift is about 4in, has 35in tires

My 74 that i sold to get this truck

Nice trucks.  Too bad you had to sale the 74.  That was a low mileage truck and looked pretty nice from the picture.

That was a real nice 74, Just my opinon I would have got some of those chrome lug nut acorn covers to hide the lug nuts and stuff on those nice newer style rims. Other than that I like that front bumper on the blue truck looks like abig piece of "C" channel steel is it?

Ya i miss the 74, i wanted to sawp it on a 4wd chassis but i couldnt find one, and the other problem was the passenger side floor was rottin out pretty bad, the 86 is a really solid truck with no structural rust holes on the frame or cab, but i do plan on doin some body work to it and getting it re-painted, but ya the front bumper is a I-Beam, the guy i bought it off welded it on so im gona have to do some cutting to remove it, but for the time being its nice to know i dont have to worry about much front end damage lol.

Both rigs are are very nice
And the front bumper, I use that kind of steel all the time, Mobile home Frame steel I thought of rear bumpers  but thought it would be over doing it on the front, Well I WAS VERY WRONG! THAT LOOKS GREAT.
its easy steel to find, easy to work with, and it's every where!!
good buy

Great looking trucks! That would've been hard for me to sell the 74. But, the new one is very cool.
