Need Pics.... please!
« on: July 22, 2009, 10:43:15 am »
Hey so I broke the number one rule... Dont forget to leave breadcrumbs. I need a few pics from anyone who has a stock 87 TBI 350 R10 setup under the hood. Maybe one from each angle. I am having a hard time remembering how the brackets mount back on to the engine.

Any pics would help, I have already scavenged the 'rides' section as well as the members projects section.

Thanks guys.

If V means there are numerous belts for each device then yes that is mine. Thanks for the response and the link! Those pics are perfect!
Could you post a couple more for the other areas of the engine.

Im such a greenhorn!!  ;D

Anybody know where the oil pressure sending unit is suppose to go on this motor?? I saw a couple of posts about this. I think one said it goes in the block somewhere near the oil filter (?) can anyone confirm this?? When I had the motor out, I couldn't figure it out... but now that its in, I cant figure it out anyway. ???

There should be a threaded port just above the oil filter for the oil pressure sending unit.

does it just go right in there or is there a 90 fitting that goes in first and then the unit fits on the 90? I cant for the life of me remember that little bugger.

i dunno about '87's or why they'd be different than my 79 or my 91 350's, but for both, the oil pressure sender is near the distributor--slightly to the right of it looking down at the engine.  The 91 uses a 3" extension and the sender screws in to that.  I changed the pressure sender in  my 91 about a year ago and had to remove the distributor to do so.

I got in there last night and looked for the spot above the oil filter. There is a hole but the extension peice that I have is not going in there. The threads are a little messy so I am gonna rethread the extension. I guess I will look near the distributor. ???

Native, do you still need any more pics? I can add a few if needed. The normal location for the oil press. switch is where Sgt.Dell said- on the top rear of the engine beside the distributor. Pretty hard to access without lying on your belly and removing the distrib.. you can also use the location above the oil filter after removing a pipe plug. Looks like ya found it.

Well I am a bit confused still. I think I might have put the wrong sensor in the hole above the filter... Attached is a picture of what I installed there with a extension nipple with a 45 coupler on it. I will take some pics of it on the motor tonight and take a picture of the one I still havent found a home for. I broke that one but maybe you guys can help me id it and tell me where it goes too.

Okay here is the pics.
The first is where I put the oil pressure sensor.
The second is where I assumed you guys were talking about. and the third is the sensor that I broke. I think there was another peice to it. I may have left it in the core cuase I cant find it in the garage. so...
Is that right? Did i put the wrong sensor in the hole above the oil filter? Does the one that I broke go there? What is the one that I broke?! ??? ;D ;D

PLEASE... HELP

Your first pic is an oil sender for the oil pressure gauge.  That is a perfectly acceptable location for it.  My oil sender, though, is mounted at the location of your second pic along with the oil pressure switch on an extension and tee.  The third pic appears to be an oil pressure switch (no pressure = open / oil pressure = closed).  Since it is attached to a 90° fitting and an extention, I would say yes it did come from the location in the second pic.

BTW, I just now saw your request for more pics of accessory brackets. :-[ Do you still need those?  I could snap a few if you do.  But just know that I do not have any pics of the AIR pump as I eliminated that.
