Steering & Gearing Questions
« on: August 14, 2009, 07:16:03 am »
Number One. ::)

My steering in my 76 is very sloppy. My buddy has nic-named it "the wanderer"
While driving the truck just moves side to side and im always having to wiggle the wheel to get it stay moving straight.

What should i replace first? ???

(oh, im running 35X16 tires on a 15" wheel and the truck has a 6" lift and 3" body lift)

Number Two.

Im not sure what gears i have on her now but i can barely get up to 55-60. I would like something more for daily cruzing.
Should i go with 3:73 or 4:56 or something else? I want something that will allow me to drive the truck and keep up with traffic. The only offloading i do is at the beach and very mild trails and power line roads no hard core mudding.

Thanks guys! :D

Check you balljoints, rag joints and steering ends for slop.  Might want to look at your frame at the steering box for cracks to..

I would go 4.56 with a 35" tire.
