how "alike"are 10 bolt rear ends cheap poss. disc conversion

i was wondering since my 2002 s10 has a 10 bolt rear end and since my 83 c10 has a 10 bolt rear end i was curious if it was possible to install a rear disc brake setup off an s10 on to my c10 since the bolt patterns are diff i could have the rotors re-drilled but all the disc brake hardware bolts right up to the flange of the axle so if it would all fit i wouldnt have to weld on any brackets and the parking brakes are drums made into the disc all i would need to do is find a way to hook up the cables so i guess my main question would be is are the axles identical just one is wider cause if the flanges that the backing plates bolt up to are the same then all the caliper hardware will work and if the axle sits the same distance from the flange so the disc will align with the caliper cause this might be the perfect cheap conversion since these disc setups are cheap and simple to find and would eliminate some of the problems people have with making the parking brake work

i don't think it will work since your bolt pattern is diffrent and the rotors would be too small. since they are made for the s10. if I'm not mistakin the 96-??? 99 impala SS http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/chassis_suspension/reardisc.htm

Silver, The flange on the axle housing where the backing plate bolts on is different from the S & C trucks, so it is no bolt-on deal. As Irish mentioned the Impala rotors have the same wheel bolt pattern as the C trucks, but they too have the smaller "car" flange on the housing so some custom brackets are required as shown in his link. The link above is using redrilled 4x4 rotors, not the Impala SS ones.  94-96 Impala SS disc have the parking brake in the rotor hat.

what about replacing the whole rear end with a s10 and upgrading the discs and restubing the front to match you could put some seroius rubber under the truck then>?

i don't know of any good s10 rears that could hold up to allot of rubber being spun. all the s10s i see that have been mod usually have a modded 9" to hold up to it

Yup your right by the time you screw around with a 10 bolt might be easier and better with a 9in
