Determining original interior color
« on: October 09, 2009, 11:36:39 am »
I think I might want to make exterior and the interior on my 1982 crew cab original colors. Exterior was originally solid white. Right now the interior is blue but I have no idea if that is the original color. It looks like some of the trim was white once but I don't know if that is factory color underneath the peeling blue.
The very last RPO code listed in the glovebox shows "61W -  XAA1 med almond cus". Is that the interior color?

Are you talking about the plastic or the metal?

Both. I did a closer inspection yesterday and it looks like the headliner trim and the metal part of the dash were originally white. Everything else (headliner remains, seats, door panels, dash, carpet) are blue, but none of that stuff looks original. It looks like they swapped in a interior out of another truck. The door panels aren't even correct for that year, so I know they aren't original.

So here is my next question. What parts were originally "medium almond"? Dash, seats, carpet, and door panels?

I can find absolutely no remains of anything medium almond color. I plan to paint the truck white again. The blue interior would go good with white I think, but I would like to see what almond looks like with white paint. Anyone got pics?

Technically the dash, upholstery, plastic trim, seat belts, and carpet would be an "almond" color.  Of course they aren't going to be EXACTLY the same color though.

My Crew Cab is White on Tan.
