a 383 isn't bored .40 over. but that is nitpickin'.

I'd go for the 2nd option.  less money and you put together-- you'll know what ya got.  The first one, with 5k miles, who knows why it is for sale now.

Can you drive motor #1 or at least hear it running? At the very least if you know of the vehicle it came from and saw it running at the local cruise-in or something then you have some comfort that it's running well. Motor #2 seems to have better parts in it but you have to get it worked on. If you don't mind the work and the time, then #2 might be the better deal.
85 Chevy Silverado C10 short, wide, yellow, 2wd. Lowered, 60-over 350 with Dart Iron Eagle heads and Comp Cams XE268 cam, TH350 w/ shift kit, 3.40 Gov-lok 12 bolt.

thanx for the response! i actually do know both sellers! the 1st one i heard run last yr and he is swapping out for  a big block. the other one my friend heard and he said it sounded good before he pulled it out for the owner (he got the car for pulling out the motor) he also is going to a big block. my friend said it is drop in ready minus carb....but i want to go thru it just to make sure everything is good!
