Header clearance issued on shackle?
« on: October 31, 2009, 10:07:21 pm »
There are 2.5" and 3" collectors, has anyone with 2.5" collectors had this clearance issue on the 4x4's. I am thinking of just running shorties from a 88 and up like on my 85 i had. But that means i have to tow it to an exhaust shop.

I bought a set of dynomax headers and had no issues.  My buddy tried to order the same set and was talked into holley brand, the rep said was the same only cheaper.  He put them on and the collectors hit the rear front shackles.

This is typical of most 4x4 long tubes, only a few that I have heard dont hit.

Check your motor mounts and also your shackle bushing for wear or damage. I have seen this a few times. They are close to begin with.

I don't have the headers yet, but i am prolly going with 1988 shorty headers, the summit set should prolly do it $159.99. I was going to go with edlebrock stainless $329.99 but the steel is smaller guage and twice as much in price as the summit painted shorties.
