well Took a little vacation and got some stuff done..
Episode 2
this installment we have the engine in and running.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=peu2YGBHuuo

Then finally got my Mallory regulator and gauge and got rid of the air compressor hose fuel line..lol   This was a TBI engine so the F/P area isn't machined for a F/P, I had a old electric pulse pump I took off a old jeep project , some years back  so i put it in line by the frame rail and had some Aluminum fuel line I ordered and never used from a different project, so I fabbed up some fuel lines and wired up a old F/P relay I had laying around from my LT1 swap in my caprice, Its from the TBI harness. Now she runs great.

Well bought a entire core support and new grill and lower valance from a guy, gonna convert my single headlight to stacked ones , but for right now I just installed the grill so she looks alittle better and isn't confused about her identity.

got a 400 gallon tank in the back with about 200 gallons in it for some traction in the big snow this weekend..lol  its about 1600 lbs in the back.

That doesn't look bad at all.  I'm kinda starting to like GMC grilles now.  I my try one on my truck.

OK started the bodywork on the front end....
stripped off the sprayed on primer and cleaned some surface rust ,then sprayed two coats of epoxy primer/sealer.

gonna scuff and sand and try and get some topcoat on tomorrow. Can't stand to look at the primer anymore.

Keeping her black still, Jim?

All normal practicality and rational money handling goes out of the window when it comes to my truck.

Do you coat the backsides with a product like Chassis Saver or the like? If I had the opportunity I would, since that should alleviate chances of rust coming through the backside of which trucks like these are oh-so prone.

I've got some stuff I use kind of like por-15.  Painted up, Not to shabby ..for cheap paint and a cheap gun.

Its got some trash in it, but for now It will do the job until I decide to take the whole thing apart and strip it and paint it.

Why you don't use spray can primer ..Its porous and lets moisture in and starts rusting the panel under the primer.
