R10 = C10 = 2wd

V10 = K10 = 4wd
Yup, what he said.  Its 2wd. They Just changed in in 87 because they kept this body style till 91 on some of the trucks and they couldn't have 2 completely different trucks with the same name.  I should have a small update today in the other thread.

I agree with the idea and the reasoning, but I have seen the 88-98 generation trucks labeled C1500 and K1500. I dont see where there would be confusion.

OK, could you imagine going to the parts store and telling them you have an 88 K series half ton meaning parts for the old (our) style trucks, but they think you mean the new style. They're would be more mass confusion than there already is in most parts stores.  I used to work at AutoZone and we had some retards working there.

Oh yeah, does anyone have any pointers for a first timer trying to replace rockers and corners. I have a flux welder im borrowing, grinder and so on. I need to do this so I can get the interior back together

The point im trying to make is that when someone walks up to the counter and fails to give the proper model, then its their own fault. C, K, R, V, P. its that simple.

Most parts store employees dont know. You need to be VERY specific to even have a chance of not making multiple trips to the parts house.

Ok, and if you have two trucks that are both C and K series, that would confuse it more. Which is why they changed it to R and V.   Catch my drift yet.

Thats why the new model is a 1500, not a 10. Not so confusing. Regardless of the C or K.
