Motor/tranny removed today...it went without any fuss.
Gonna have to clean 30 years worth of crud from the front end before it goes for blasting... ;D
Looking at the motor today i never noticed the alternator is on the right side if viewed from the front, first chevy i've owned with this setup..?

Without seeing under the tarp, the alternator on the right side would indicate a 1972 or older set up with a short waterpump, at least that is how it was in the states for a pickup truck.

Your probably right.. ;) as the vin states it was originally a '6' cylinder-manual trans, the numbers on the block read,

That is some nice work.  A brand new (looking) 1980 frame--that truck's gonna be the envy of all your friends.  I'm a bit envious myself.  I'll be downright green once you get this thing rolling again. ;D

Just like me then, the use of the unit was a one off...the rest of this truck will be finished on my driveway except the paint that is.
If the weather holds out it'll be done before next winter...lol

Found it under the front of the box on the right side and again under the cab on the same side.

my truck has changed so many spots and had so many hands trying to help and unsuccessfully setting it back more than progressing. there's no room in my garage at home so driveway is looking liek the spot

Its that old saying..'too many cooks spoil the broth'...i'm quite happy pottering on alone if the weather holds out,but it is good to get help shifting the bigger stuff around when needed.
And i know exactly where everything is in my organised mess... ;D
