Any you guys got keyless entry?

Anyone here ever put keyless entry on one of these old trucks? If so, how's it treatin' ya? I got spoiled to it after owning a Lincoln LS, and a Volvo S80. Heck my 94 GT Mustang even had it. Once you get used to it, it's hard to go back. So I am thinking I am going to put it on my 87. If you have done this, what brand did you go with? I only have once stipulation: It cant make that annoying alarm beep every time you hit the lock or unlock button on the remote. It just draws attention to the fact that you do in fact have an alarm system. So what might you be protecting in there? So which one do you have, and how do you like it?

not that i have one now but on my 04 impala it could beep and flash the light. i never wanted that attention it being stock it could be just turned off in the radio. not sure but i don't see why after market ones shouldn't have this feature

I have keyless entry through my alarm. I just added the actuators and wired them to the alarm. It is very nice to have.

I put a crime stopper (don't know which ###) in my 78 with no power locks. I think I got it off amazon or something and it was around $60. The kit came with actuators, the alarm, 2 key pads, wiring harnesses (good quality) and it will work the horn, lights and makes the dome light fade out. Also the dome light comes on when you unlock the doors So far I love it.
Some people had asked me if the actuators did good in cold weather and I can vouch they work perfectly down to at least 5 degrees. It also has a led flashlight thingy in the keypad, a panic button and a trunk release button (you could use it for anything else you want to.)
One other thing about the keypads is how the keyring attaches to the keypad. It rotates freely and isnt cheaply done like some of the ford OEM keypads I've had in the past, so i don't think it will break off.
The range isn't super far (like 50ft) but that's just fine for me.
Oh yeah, It doesn't honk the horn when you lock it, but it does flash the lights when you lock/unlock it. You could bypass this by just not hooking the lights up to the alarm in the first place.
This may be a problem for some, but the only thing I don't care for about it is that since I have no switches on the door panel to work the electric locks, when you unlock the drivers side, the passenger side unlocks too and vise-versa. so no matter what happens, both locks are either locked or unlocked.

When did you buy it? I am looking for one that does everything you said, except for when you hit the unlock button, it only does the driver's side, and then if you want the passenger unlocked you hit it again.
Also, are you saying that it leaves the dome light on for a second when you close/lock the doors, then slowly fades it out? If so that's pretty cool.

Yeah mine didn't have an option for unlocking one door at a time... it's really the only thing i don't like about it, but it doesn't really bother me, since I ride with the doors locked anyway. But yeah it fades the dome light out--- when you shut the door, it stays on for a couple of seconds and then fades off.

Can you set the trunk button to pen the passenger door?
That may be one way around it.

Or set it to be a hood pop button. That might be kinda convenient sometimes.
