Back on but is keeps working loose so he left it at my house and i took him home! I sure wish i couldlve had my silverado together for all this snow! :/

so what did just north of Staunton get in the valley?  My guess, just under 30"?

I have a former girlfriend who lives in Verona, within sight of I-81, which was a parking lot yesterday.

I wish Dennis had better luck with the owner of his old truck...for the memories of his son.  I helped him downsize some pics a couple of mons ago.

Well,

1) i had to commute late fri night/sat morning and it was beyond terrible, so you all can keep your happy snow.   On the other hand, it was/is interesting to be all snowed in/cozy for the weekend; It was an interesting feeling.  So maybe once in a great while it might be ok.

2) More importantly, when you're trying to get moving/get unstuck in the snow i "hear" that it's not a good idea to spin one wheel on an open diff.   The snow we had was the type where if you spin the wheel, you move real slow at first and then eventually start to move normally.   You couldn't really get "dug in."   i admit i did this alot on fri night----it probably added up to several miles of spinning.

a) Is this not a good idea?

b) Should one instead carry a shovel and or use kitty litter and such?

i always carry a shovel and a bag of sand or 2 in the winter.   if you get stuck,  it's easy to dig snow out of the way, then throw some sand down for traction to get moving again.  if you are in the deep stuff (not plowed road or wheelin) try to keep momentum, but as soon as your wheels start to spin, stop!  you'll just dig in and get really stuck.

The local news in OK, is showing alot of the VA snow and talking about the records it breaking. Saying you guys are measuring it with Yard Sticks, not rulers. Us adults don't care for it much, but the kids gotta be loving it. You're not going to change it anyway, so may as well as enjoy it. You prbably won't see snow like that again at your place in your lifetime. Just stay safe and don't get yourself stuck out in it. Frostbite isn't any fun either and alot more serious than people seem to realize.

It did take a while to saturate the air enough for the snow to make it to the ground.  Don't know how much you ended up with but it was a bust for me.  A solid 1/2" of powder, took all of 20 minutes to clean up.  Southeastern and south-central Mass got around 20" though.  Amazing the difference 40 miles makes.

Yeah, it is amazing.  40 miles east of me near Colonial Williamsburg only got an inch or two with some sleet, mostly rain.  40 miles west of me near Charlottesville got nearly 2 feet and 90 miles west of me in the valley near Screamin86, got 30"

15 miles from me where my parents are and where i grew up, in western Hanover Co,  got 20" ---sure beats my 12".

I had an old guy tell me once, A good deed never goes unpunished. I told he he was wrong. Just live life and you soon find out it really is true. Doesn't stop me though. I have stopped many times to help old people or ladies change flats. They want to pay me for it, and I decline to take it. I just hope someone is around if my mother, daughter, or grandparents need help.
