That had me all messed up too when I did my first setup. I had a GM spacer, stock 6.0L flexplate, and a regular TH350 converter. The spacer ended up being too long and the converter wouldn't turn...I never got around to checking the TC to flexplate clearance(at the bolt). I yanked it out and started over with no spacer, just a stock 6.0 flexplate and a different TH350 converter with an extended snout welded on. There's pictures of it in the for sale section.

Maybe this will work for you. Then you just have to use spacers to get the pump engagement correct.
