bouncing speedo

Everybody I know that drives a chevy truck has experienced the bouncing speedo needle. What causes it and how do we stop it?

I love my bouncing speedo, matches the bouncing gas gauge.

depending on what you mean by bouncing, my definition means you need to pull the speedo cable and lube it.
