cab swap
« on: February 12, 2010, 01:08:23 pm »
so i was looking at my 76 4x4 the other day and noticed that my box looked a little lop sided. i crawled underneath and the rear drivers side body mount on my cab has gone bad. so its actually my cab that sits crooked. any ideas of how to fix this? or how hard it would be to put a new cab on?

thanks

mrboyy17 posted a link regarding bushing replacement.  I don't think that's what you're referring to is it, Derrick79?  Of course posting a pic would be the best way to get a good answer, but if you can't you may need to describe the damage a little better.  You say the rear body mount has gone bad.  Do you mean that above the bushing you've rusted away to nothing?  If that's the case you may still rather try to fix it than do a cab swap.  Is your cab good enough for your needs otherwise?

yeah the top portion of the mount itself has rusted through. i checked all the other ones and they seem fine. and the rest of the cab is perfect. i know that changing the cab is a little extreme for something like this. but i am only 19 and i dont have a welder nor can a weld good enough to try to fix it. so that being said i think i could handle tackling a cab swap. but any other ideas are greatly appreciated.

thanks guys
