original glass?
« on: March 03, 2010, 08:12:19 pm »
Does anyone know how to determine original factory glass. I like restored trucks and have a restored modifed 67 myself but I'm working on info to substansiate my 87 is an original 35K truck. The door glass is mint. It's "soft ray" but the emblem in the middle has "PPG" in the square versus what is on my 67 and the 87 vent window of "LOF".

You could read your option code/list and see if it matches what you have. i.e. rear slider or no slider, tinted, etc. although there is probably a better way. Also look at you pedals and floor for wear as signs of actual mileage.

Yeah... just trying to build case. The pedal wear looks right. I know the front and back glass has been replaced. The door glass just looks too good to be an over 100K truck.

There's so many trucks out there claiming to be something their not everyone's so cautious... rightly so. I see trucks all the time claiming to be within mechanical limits and look over 200K!

Glass being replaced won't effect originality, not that it matters much on these trucks.
It should be PPG Glass though AFAIK.
