vacuum advance question

When I bought my truck the previous owner removed the vac advance and put a eliminator plate on the distributor.  I have never had a problem with it in the seven years I have had the truck although I always wonder why he got rid of it. Would I have any benefits in putting one back on or should I leave it how it is.

It will help you part throttle response and possibly your gas mileage.

Seems like it would be better with it on.  what would have been the reason for taking it off?  Does not advancing the timing give any benefit to the engine?

Having the vacuum advance helps.  There is no good reason to have it removed on a daily driver.

PO may have had a vacuum leak and decided to ditch it rather than fix it.

Hey thanks for the info.  I think I am just going to but a whole new distributor with it on it and put it in.  Something I always wanted to do since I got the truck just never got around to it.
