My 86 K20 4x4

Here are some pictures of my 86 K20 4x4. I bought the truck 2 weeks ago. It has some rust on the rockers and bottom of the passenger door. Yesterday I started cutting off the drivers side rocker. I didnt really plan on doing body work to it right now but I bought brand new doors, fenders, inner fenders, rocker and cab corners for dirt cheap from a guy on Craigslist last week. The funny this was he lived about 5 miles from me and had all this stuff sitting in his garage.

Congratulations. Craigslist is a great place to find good parts for a good price, especially when they are close to you. Nice truck.

I thought so too, but its actually heater hose. I think its the hose you find on police cars.

Got out the sawzall and cutoff wheel this past week and started on the drivers side rocker. There was a little rust at the bottom of the interior kick panel too so I cut off the bottom of it.
I got everything screwed on for test fitting with the door. Everything seem to go pretty good. The inner rocker was a little tricky but I think I got it. I might have to do some trimming of the underside of the inner rockers where it meets the floor pan because I dont like the way it looks under the truck.
After I get all this welded on I have to do the cab corner.

Are you going to replace the cab floor support? Now would be the time before you weld on the inner rocker and repair the bottom of your footwell (kick panel). Surely its rusted badly too, right?

Inner rocker, rocker, kick panel and cab corner is on. Now I just need some seam sealer.
First time I ever welded or did body work. But luckly, I've been around people who do and kinda payed attention.
My welds were not the greatest in the world but they look good as any body elses after I hit it with the grinder.
Going to start on the passenger side tomorrow. That side should be ez because I just have some rust where the cab corner meets the rocker. I should be able to cut that area out and weld in a patch.

Put a little primer over the new cab corner and bolted up the new fenders. I might put the new doors on this weekend.
Man, I'm really liking the black fenders. I planned on painting it white but now I'm not sure. I know once I hang the doors its going to look good. I just don't know if I'm up to doing a color change. The interior would be a pain in the ash to paint. I guess it all depends on how much I like the black.
