any LS powered Lowered truck pics?
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:44:38 pm »
hi I am wondering if some of you might have a pic/s of a truck with one of the newer lighter 4.8,5.3,6.0 engines and have the truck lower, are you guys having any issues with the hanging of the oil pan?

I am planning on lowering my truck and with the new drive train (5.3)as it sits now,, I have rally wheels with 295/60/r15 I think thats what is. not sure if its 295 or 275? anyways.. as of right now I have 5inches between the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender edge all the way around,  the tires right now are around 26 inch tall, I am not too familar with lowering and tires sizes, any recomendations? any pics? any problems you guys had with the newer truck style oil pan?

thanks in advanced

Plenty of lowered ones with LS power.  Mine is a 6.0L with the stock pan, it is no lower than the deep sump 454 Pan that was on it.

This is my mock truck with the LS in it.  Back has lowering leafs, front has lower control arms and springs.  Due to the fact that it has a fiberglass front end and it used to have a 454, it sits a little higher than normal, but...

My truck is lowered a little bit and the pan hangs down a good bit.  I think the mounts/adapters you use has a little bit to do with it to do with it.  I've been through some pretty harsh bumps and dips, but I don't recall ever scraping the pan on the ground.

5.3 and 6.o have the is the same dimension and all... Im running the 5.3 with the stock pan. Made my own engine adatpers and the trucks lowered about 2/4ish. the pan fits perfectly. I chose to make my own adapter because I didnt want to pay someone for a bracket and that didnt allow for factory a/c setup. Made my own, and got to use the factory a/c compressor and bracket.

there are quite a few oil pans to choose from. you can see why the H3 pans are pretty popular.

Capt, i really like the look of your truck.  This is the first time I have seen it kinda all together.  It has an aggressive stance I like.  The wheels are perfect for it too.
