Getting ready to start frame off
« on: April 02, 2010, 03:13:21 pm »
Like I posted in my Just joined topic. I just found an almost near perfect body few dents and dings here and there. But absolutely no rust anywhere it is an 85 c-20 Silverado. The power windows work faster than any other truck I have seen this year and the paint on the interior is good. I will get some pics of her on here. My plan is to make it a 3/4 4wd. I scored a frame with with a full floater rearend and dana 44 front with a 4 speed and a 205 for just $250.00. It will be a big block truck with a serpentine belt system I cant decide if I should go fuel injection or carb though. It will probably depend if I decide to go crate engine or save some money and build an enigne  my self. I have never been a member of a forum like this and it is really neat to see so many people with the same passion I have for chevy/gmc trucks. If any of you are from Missouri and are familiar with truck pulling you may have seen my pulling truck around but I sold it this year and am using the moeny to build this driver as I am burned out with truck pulling. But that is a story for another thread! ;D I plan on keeping this thread open and updating with pics as I go.

I'd go fuel injection for reliability and driveablilty.  I have a carb on my truck right now but I think there is fuel injection in my future.

Make sure you post some picture of the 4x4 conversion.

Truck looks super clean from here.   Looks like a great starting point, no doubt!   Good luck and have fun with it!

I moved it here where it belongs.  Projects are for simple things like disc brake conversion, LS motor conversion.  Truck projects go in the Rides section.

My frame is at the powdercoaters and I have been working on building my engine. It is basically done. I will get some pics tommorow. I decided to build it a little hotter than I first started but I ended up getting a 60 over block and 4.25 crank worth the money and found some decent aluminum heads to put on it. My intake oil pan and timing chain cover will be here next week other than that it is completely assembled.
