14 Bolt FF for a duelly.
« on: April 04, 2010, 08:55:51 pm »
Ok so I've been searching online for awhile about brakes and all that stuff because I am going to completely overhaul my rearend. All new bearings seals whatever it needs it will get. But I was checking around and I came across a few articles on random 4x4 websites where people have taken the GM coprorate 14 bolt rearend and put disc brakes on the back. My question is would it be possible to convert my rearend to use disc brakes? Even with the Dual rear wheels? I priced out all new shoes springs drums seals cylinders everything for a complete brake job and with my company discount came to about $500. I certainly wouldnt mind spending more than that to get disc brakes though. Anyone have any ideas suggestions or places for me to look/call?

Ya joe thanks for the info I have read so far that you can use most of the parts off a 3/4 or 1 ton front end and it pretty much swaps to the rear with the exception of the special bracket that needs to be fabricated for the 4 bolts where you take the backing plate off.  I just didnt know if it would work with the whole dually rearend I don't know if measurements are different for the duallies as it is with the regular pickup rears. I am just getting ready to tear into my 14bFF for a rebuild and re-gear so I'm trying to learn as much as I can.
