Sking yesterday!
« on: April 04, 2010, 11:01:33 pm »
This is the ski area right up the road from my house. I try and go every year on my birthday. Missed it last year. Cell phone pics so they are not perfect.

Link to trail map.

The mountains you can just see way off are the presidential range of the White Mountains. Adams, Mckinley, Washinton etc.

Pond skimming. They do this every year on closing day!

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

McKinley?   ::)  Some great views that day!   :P

Ragged had some GREAT deals going on all year - they were running commercials on Boston TV stations all winter with that goofy Australian dude.  Mt. Wachusett's last day was Saturday but I don't ski.  Might take the kids over there sledding on what's left in the next few days before this fabulous weather wipes it all out for good.

Right up the road from your house.  Man I am so jealous.  If that were near me, I'd be skiing every weekend and night, too.  I love skiing.

Snowshoe West Va is the biggest and bestest around here, and is about 3.5 hours away.  There are smaller resorts nearby like Wintergreen, Massanutten, and Bryce, but I've done all their black diamonds and they don't compare at all to the double black diamonds at Snowshoe and the Western Territory.  Love that place.
When my son doesn't require so much of my paycheck for daycare and such, I'm gonna go to Stowe, Vt.  Then, later, gonna hit Jackson Hole WY and of course, Vale CO.

Great pics.  And, another goal of mine is to walk on top of those Presidential Mts on the Appalachian Trail after i retire on the way to Mt. Katahdin, ME.

Was wondering if anyone would pick up on McKinley?  LOL! Figured I would toss it in there to keep you guys on your toes!!  ;D
Its about two miles up the road. I am the first house on Raggged Mountain Rd., and it ends in there parking lot!
I can never seem to find the time to go. Always have to much other crap going on! The guy that lives in the house I grew up in works there. All I gotta do is ask I have a comp ticket. I vowed to my self Sat. that next year I would have some more modern equipment, and go more often.
That goofy Australian dude was the one doing the announcing for the pond skimming, he is funny. He is married to a friend of mines daughter.

nice, but blazin looks like your missing one thing "snow" last time I went skiing in those conditions I tore my acl and meniscus :'( did know I did any damage till I tried to stand up and my knee popped and I fell right back down first time on a snow mobile also lol. People look at you funny when you’re suiting up to go skiing and you put on a knee brace, had this one lady ask me if I was in the wrong place

Sometimes I wrap my knees with an ace bandage, and they have been bothering me recently. I tore up my left knee on the slopes when I was 17. Right one I did at work when I was about 23. I only took 7 runs the other day, and it has been several years since they have given much bother! Plus I don't ski hard like I did when I was younger.
