Trim yer fenders and you can fit 42's with 4" of lift.

Fender trim needed.

i dont put much faith in those charts, my 1973 k-10 with only a 4 inch suspension lift cleard 35x12.50"s fine.

but figured 6 inches of susp and 3 inch body would clear 42"s with not trimming

I think we talked about this before but did you off road or just drive it and there is 7" of tire difference between 42s ans 35 but your only talking about a 5 " difference in lift so I think those 2" will be a problem with your 73 k10 most people use 9" of lift  just to fit 38s so if you want to do it cause your 73 was able to fit 35s with a 4" lift but what's the stock tire size? I think you can fit 31s stock so fitting 35 with a 4 " lift I can see it. But 42s I can't see that

actually theres only 3.5 inches of difference between 35 and 42 inch tires due to u split the 7 inch differnce in 2 directions. i know for a fact u can put 33x12.50 15 on a 8 inch wheel in a stock k-10 and clear no problem. plenty running around here and no rubbing or fenders cut. now im sure if u offroad it be different. mines strictly street. see u have to factor that 3/4 tons sit up higher stock anyway. and with 6 inches of suspension and 3 inch body, seems it would work. i know it be close, but dang 16.5 tires are hard to come by

Good point. When my buddy had 38s on his blazer with only 4" lift he trimmed the fenders it was ok on the street but any articulation it would rub bad so more had to come off.
