Now this is a "Barn find"...My new Suburban
« on: April 25, 2010, 09:46:03 am »
 Hey Guys,
Been so busy lately that i havn't had a chance to stop in and see you guys and see what ya'll have been up too.
I've been workin on my old burb, but have got very discouraged because she has developed a slight knock in the bottom end.
so it looks like i was gonna have to rebuild or replace her 5.7l small block.
Well i kinda just parked her till i decide what i'm gonna do with her. This is where my story get interesting....Here goes....
I was at work on a sat. morning about a month ago or so and my girlfriend call me and said she found a burb on Craigslist that she thought i might be interested in, so whe i got home here what she showed me.....

1991 suburban with 39,012 original miles on it! and it looked like it just rolled off the assembly line!

Well you guys know.....i just had to go check it out!
So i went and looked it over and it was exactly what the guy said it was! So i brought it home.. This truck was purchased locally
at the chevy dealer. The original owner ordered it with the heavy duty towing package, and every option but power mirrors, and the roof rack.

well i could go on and on about it but i will just put the pics of her and let you guys check her out.

Nice find how much it cost

Had GM started putting clearcoat or top coat on the paint work by then? Or was it just paint?

Anyway, I would love to have a Suburban like that, and a Blazer of the same year ...  ;D
Too bad I’m so broke I can’t pay attention.

I gave top dollar for her.....she set me back 4 grand, but i figured i would have much more than that in my other burb (which is a nice truck) but it needs paint, that alone would set me back 2-3 grand for a decent job, so i think i did pretty good, plus i got all the original paper work, owners manual and even the cassette tape that tells the owner how the options work and tells you about you new truck!

So now my girl wants me to sell my other suburban....she wont let me keep both, so if anyone wants a nice suburban, that needs alittle paint work, let me know.....i'm gonna put it in the for sell forum later today.

GM had started using  a base/clearcoat paint by 1991, and it was always peeling the clear off, so my truck has had a repaint because of that, but the rest of the truck has never been touched or repaired... the inside is absolutely flawless!!!  i mean the original owner told me that there has NEVER been anyone sit in any of the rear seats! the carpet is perfect, as is door panels. everything works perfect, even the rear window defroster!!

Something like this almost never comes along, it always happens to someone else.  You got lucky, what a great find, and I don't think the $$$ was out of line.

Definately a nice one. Id love to find one like that, and besides, you'd spend more than $4K on a newer one with 4 times the mileage. Awesome

jeebus. all these brand new looking trucks are depressing me, my "boss" just had an 83 short bed dropped off that spent its life in new mexico. the master cylinder on it looks newer than my 6 month old replacement in my 82.
