74 stepside cab replacement ?
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:09:01 am »
I have a pretty rusted out 74 stepside 4wd cab that I was planning to swap out for anouther cab instead of repairing.  I was wondering if anyone knows is there is a difference between a 2wd cab and 4wd cab.  I pretty much decided to stay between 73 and 79.  I did find out that 77 and newer cabs have a different part # for the doors, so I plan if 77 or later on changing cab and doors.  Thank you for any help.

2WD vs 4WD are different as they have a relief for the transmission transfercase and generally run a high tunnel.  To use one on a 4x4 you would either have to cut the differences out or run a body lift, or get a 4x4 cab.  Doors will swap 73-87.

This has been discussed several times if you need more info.
