rear shocks question...
« on: May 16, 2010, 08:23:26 am »
i'm doing some rear frame work on my shortened shortbox chevy stepside on a blazer frame... i have always found the configuration of the rear shocks to be a bit goofy... each side pointing in a different direction. I don't know if its the same on pickup frames but thats how its set up on my rig (blazer frame).

whats the reason for this setup from the factory? what would be the pros and cons of relocating shocks so they are both pointed the same way?

They are installed that way to ride better and to keep your rig from bouncing all over the road when you are driving. I always thought they looked kind of odd too but I wouldn't fool with them. My 2 cents....

They were made that way because it controls the axle better and suppresses wheel hop.  Ford in the past few years put them on their fullsize trucks insinuating it was something new they came up with.
