I had some more pics but they're too large, I will try to resize them later. Anyway, I had some old AC vents lying around (typical faded chrome) and I was wondering what one would look like just plain black. I lightly sanded it with 600 sand paper. Then I was thinking about some type of buffing compound I had around the house without having to go buy something. I was just kind of goofing around in my shop. I tried Crest toothpaste on a folded up papertowel Rub, rub, rub. It wasn't as bad or take as long as you may think. I had to dampen it every so often. Then I took a micro fiber towel and wet it and wrung it out well. I folded it up and did the Crest thing again. I was amazed how well it turned out. I did the whole set and plan to use them in my ride when I install a new dash cap. Plus they smell minty fresh and they taste pretty good too. ;)

They look nice!   if when you install them they're loose or flop down, wrap a bit of electric tape around the mounts on the end to tighten them up.

Did the same thing to mine, only I painted them silver instead of black.

My vents dont really hold their position to well.. kinda fall down once you get them where you want them. After taking apart the drivers side vent (by the knee) I used some Butyl Caulk (sealant) around the "pivot" point... man they hold their position now... moves kinda stiff but its not like you move it a lot.

On the ones I have "fixed" I put a strip of black fuzzy sided velcro on it so it would grab.

I don't know. But I can say that so far they have not developed any cavities!  ;D
