Hidden front reciever hitch

My father always wanted a hidden front mounted 2" receiver.  I had a Reese hitch from a donor truck that's mounts had rotted off.  I narrowed the hitch to fit between the frame rails, and welded some angle iron into endcaps/ mounts.  I cut out the core support mount rivets and used the rear 2 holes along with the bumper bracket bolt to secure the hitch.  I used all grade 8 hardware for strength.  It is accessible through a flip down license plate.  It's not finished but here's where it stands.

JUST what I needed yet another cool project idea. 

Question for ya.  Do you have easy access to the hitch pin with it tucked in so tight?

That would be such a handy thing to have.  A platform to work on the engine, a spare tire carrier when you needed the whole bed, not to mention easily docking a trailer.  Wanna make me one???

I'm working on getting a spring loaded hitch pin so all i have to do is slide in the extender and it snaps into place. Undoing the pin means reaching under, but its not so far that I have to lie under the truck, just reach behind the tow hooks.  I got the idea from my father who saw trailer balls mounted on the front of our neighbors tractor.  It makes maneuvering trailers much easier.  So far I have about $30 between hardware and the rubber, but still need to get a pin and extender.

Picked up a couple pins and an extender the other day so its officially finished.  With the extender in, it looks like it was meant to be there.  So for $50 and stuff that was cluttering my garage, I now have the slickest Front hitch I've ever seen.

Its a 12" extender and you see how far in it goes, the hitch is mounted way back underneath the core support.
