Frame identification
« on: June 20, 2010, 09:58:05 pm »
does anyone here know a good way to figure out the year for a Blazer frame?  i bought a project truck that consists of a pickup cab on a blazer frame.
the registration is for the year of the cab (1980), but i have no idea what year the frame is. i need to start ordering brake parts and stuff, which is why i need to know what year it is. Is there a tag or number stamped into the frame somewhere that i might be missing? The motor is a 350, but not original.

Supposedly there is a VIN stamped on the frame near the steering box. Im not sure exactly where, Ive never seen it on mine, but I havent looked for it either. Try that.

If there are holes in the crossmembers it is 81-87, solid 73-80.
