Rear tailgate to cargo door conversion?

Anyone done this? My burb has the tailgate, and I want the cargo doors. I have taken all the tailgate hardware loose to look at it, and found a set of cargo doors for a good price (w/all the hardware). Just wondering how "straight-up" of a conversion this will be before I run out and buy the doors?

Any advice?

They say the newer ones, mid 80's is a piece of cake if you have everything to do it.  The hinge mounting hardware is even supposed to be there.  Personally I have not done it but I parted out a 1985 Suburban that had some decent cargo doors on it and the guy who bought them was telling me this.

Prior to 81 it is a cakewalk, all of the holes are there along with the captured nuts, after that none of the holes were there you had one or the other.

Thanks fellas. Mine has no holes or captured nuts, it seems. Looks like I'm stuck with the tailgate. I just don't want to get into a bunch of hacking and fabbing to make it work.

Anyone know if you can convert the tailgate to manual operation from power? Seems I'm gonna have to spend some money to get the tailgate functional again, and I really don't want a headache in the future. I'd rather have to get out and roll it up or down than have to tinker with it all the time.

a new motor and maybe some wires its a quick fix

Yeah, I made up my mind, I'm gonna throw some time, and possibly some money into the electric system and get the window working. I finally got the window down today by direct wiring the motor and rolling the window down. I had to rap on the motor a few times to get it turning at all. And even now it doesn't have much torque. I will tear into the motor tomorrow and see if it's something I can clean up and make work, or if I spend the cash for a new motor. At first glance, the drive gear seems to walk around in the bracket a bit, and looks like it's disrupting the gear mesh. Not sure if that's causing me the trouble or not yet. I can't be helping.
