Not always, switches, motors and sometimes cranks go bad and need to be replaced.

I just found an a/c compressor in a junkyard truck that still had a charge. I had the yard guy "properly evacuate" the system  ;) and remove the compressor for $50. I flushed it out and refilled with ester oil, and also changed the accumulator. My system was already converted, so the o-rings were compatible. Charged with 134, blowing 44 degree air.  ;D

Did you vacuum the systen befire you chardeg it I hope?
