Do you use RTV or the paper gasket or both when installing a long WP on a SBC? I just want to get it right the first time! I am use to other pumps AMC,Ford, never done a chevy.

I use the gaskets only on waterpumps and never had a problem. I suppose a very light film of RTV to hold the gaskets in place would be an insurance policy but I have never had a Chevy water pump leak at the gasket. My $.02

I always put a thin coat permatex water pump sealer on both sides of the gasket. Not too much.

I have red permatex RTV that should do the job....

Someone recommended "The Right Stuff" on here before, and I use just that and it works great

Got it on tonight! Used RTV and paper. Is it suppose to be this close to the balancer? Looks alot closer than the stock one did! I bought the pump to match my truck!?
