86 K30 Stakebody Manual Tranny
« on: July 14, 2010, 08:24:28 pm »
Hey guys(and a few ladies),
Long time no post. I was wandering what 4sp or 3sp w/granny low came in an 86 k30? I picked it up fairly cheap for the plow and was wandering if I should hang on to the tranny as a spare for my 81 k20. The one in the 86 has a hydraulic clutch. Are he tranny's the same but with different linkages or is it a totally different tranny. Here are a few picks.

SM465. Same trans. Different bellhousing. The 81 if its original has a NP 208 case, the 86 is an NP205.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I spot a Dana 60. You said you got the truck for cheap money. That axle may pay off the truck.

I spy an NP205 Tcase. Look at the shift rail as well as the cast iron case.

Thanks Blazin, not sure what I'm going to do yet. I don't even know what I have room to save. If I find a spot maybe i'll hang on to it if I need it or something.

Fitz, It's a 60 alright but my cousin (who I got the truck from) is gettin them. The rears are the only things he wanted.

Prong, looks that way about the t-case. I need a GARAGE! I want to save it all but lack the room. I need to pay my dues and get my "site supporter" again and post some of it. Thanks guys.
