I would say not ha. I'll look at heads tomorrow. Guy told me that it was a 305 corvette motor, but that doesn't appear to be true. How can I tell if it is a 305 or 307? Not sure if this matters but I measured the bore with a tape measure and it looks to be pretty close to 3.75"

you need to pull the casting number off the back of the block, on the bellhousing area close to the 5.0lg thing. I beleive it's an 80ish block and to my knowledge 307's stopped in like the 70's. You should also look at the crank where the flywheel bolts, on the block side, to see if it's a 1 or 2 piece rear main seal, I'm thinking it's a 1 piece which has an aluminum adapter bolted to the block, kinda hard to see with it in the vehicle and such.

As for being from a corvette I call BS, I don't think they'd ever waste time putting a 305 in a vette, but I could be wrong, not sure if they ever had 305 vette's. I think it's the late 80's camaro block I posted in the suffix link first time.

Find the long sequence of numbers on the bellhousing flat and post it.

Swims350, the "GM 5.0LG" is the casting number. From what I've read, this kind of casting signifies a later year block. It just doesn't match the suffix codes(which can be altered).

No, there's a casting number back there a series of numbers, I've had 350's and 305's with that 5.0 crap and 5.7 and there's a casting number back there on another flat, not the same flat as the 5.0 there's another one. I have never seen there, NOT be a casting number on the back.

How does it not match the suffix? I posted that an 88 camaro chc suffix had a 305. I'd almost bet money on it being that one.

I have an 88-95 block right now that has 5.7 lg stamped on that spot and has a long casting number on the back of the block next flat(area between bellhousing bolts) up and it's the casting number.

I also had an 86 truck same deal.

yea the 5.x stamped ones are like a later model and why I said I beleive it's an 86 and up block.

That is the casting number, it's on my 88's 350 and it's on the flat above the 5.0lg mark as you can see and it's on the driver's side, I think looks like it's PS in the pics due to the bolt location. It's between the point of the bellhousing and the bolt that's about 4 inches from it on one side or the other.

hey 86 I ran your head numbers from the 305 build thread they are from this..

14101081 305 87-94 1.84/1.50 58cc

So that makes me think more again that you have an 88 camaro 305 in your truck. I know they can change heads on a motor, but find the block casting as I posted and show me and I'll find out what it comes up as.

I'd bet it to be one of these...

14102058 305 86-88 140-180 Car & Truck 2-bolt Passenger stick 1-piece seal
14101147 305 86-up  2-bolt Passenger stick one piece seal
14094766 305 86-up  2-bolt Passenger stick one piece seal
14088551 305 86-88 140-180 Car & Truck 2-bolt Passenger stick 1-piece seal
14093627 305 87-88 140-180 Car & Truck 2-bolt Passenger stick 1-piece seal

If you got the intake off of it I can run them numbers or the exhaust manifolds as well, or even the crank.

sorry man only found one close, yours ends in 5 and not 3 but here it is..

14057053 305/350 80-88 4-Brl Aluminum Quadrajet

The one on the back of the block is the most important it's a long number like the one on the intake, try to clean it off and find it if you can. That will help tell you the year of the motor.

yes sir did you see my picture of my 88 trucks block? that's where it is, it's on the back and near the 5.0 you found it's one flat area or boss or pad above it, either on the driver's side or pass. I forget which but it's there and it's a long number just like the intake.

It is on the driver side of the block, behind the head at the firewall. It is right before the transmission. You might have to wipe it off to read the numbers properly.
