No. Sorry. I meant when the engine is cold or hot. What I'm getting at is it could be a choke issue.
Have you checked for proper choke function? When the engine is stone cold, the choke blade should be closed with a slight bit of spring tension holding it closed. As soon as the engine is started the choke pulloff should crack it open a bit. Perhaps the choke isn't closing or maybe the pull off is opening it too much (it's adjustable). Also maybe you need to bump your high idle speed up a bit.
Do you depress the throttle before attempting to start it? That will close the choke blade (either partially or fully depending on temp) and squirt a bit of fuel from the accelerator pump, easing starting.
