My 87
« on: August 13, 2010, 11:36:31 am »
Got it about a year ago. Engine is now pulled and building a 383 for it. Just got the engine completely apart last night and it's off to the machine shop next week after the bottom end stuff arrives. It had 84k miles on it when I got it. Old guy I bought it from couldn't drive anymore. Except for a few little dings and some minor rust on the back bumper and bed rails, it was in really good shape.

The  photostream( http://www.flickr.com/photos/invegas/sets/72157624592445269/with/4888538276/) has pics of the engine pulled, including the broken #3 piston :)

most likely will put a roll pan on it.

the paint is in really good shape, save for the hood which is naturally oxidized.

I love my longbed! There seems to be ton of folks restoring their shortbed 73-87 but not many nice longbeds around so it makes you a little different from the rest! :)

around here you can find good shape long beds dirt cheap, everyone wants short beds and rust bucket short beds they want high prices for, it's hard to find or get good short bed stuff here, but long beds are like dime a dozen. I could have bought 2 for $500 and both ran and drove, one was 305, the other a 350, one auto one 4 speed, both long beds, both had no rust on the beds or very little and rest was in decent shape, basically just needed paint.

it is certainly in good shape and the seat is pretty comfy. Drove it from OK to vegas and back and it was pretty nice.  However I would like to put in a set of bucket seats :)

The dash has been modified a little bit to put a new stereo up top instead of the stock location. I'm going to redo it all this winter though with new gauges and such.
