Intermediate steering shaft
« on: August 24, 2010, 03:10:49 am »
I know these trucks have the same rag joint style as any other GM. My question is:

Has anyone used a Jeep Cherokee steering shaft as a replacement? They have u joints like the Borgeson shafts but a whole lot cheaper to buy.

My S10 has one now and it tightened up the steering tremendously, best part is that it was only $5 and took longer to get out of the Jeep than it was to modify and install.

Never seen it, but I have seen homemade u-joint style steering shafts made from PTO parts from tractor supply. It was on an S10 with a body lift, and the stock knuckle hit the exhaust manifold when you turned it. I would think you could make about anything work, but the Cherokee one might not have enough overall length for a full-size truck.

Because $5 is a -_- lot better than $250 for basically the same thing.
