Stereo install failed and now my tail lights are stuck on
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:39:21 pm »
I'm installing a modern stereo in the 84 chev C10. The old am would turn on but the dial quit working. I tried to use the scoshe stock wiring adapter. It does not have a place for the memory wire(where should I tie this in?). After plugging the two plugs  in, I cannot get the stereo to turn on. My truck only has the the one speaker upfront. I might have bumped the brake switch I'm assuming because now the taillights won't turn off. Any suggestions on how to get the taillights to turn off and stereo to turn on.

Thanks in Advance,
Chris

yes sounds like you did bump the switch you should be able to slide it back in the bracket to get it to go back off. about the wiring i have always just cut and splice into the old wiring but the memory just needs to find a spot in your fuse panel thats hot with or with out the key on. and the hot stereo wire should be hot with the key on make sure you have goo ground then just trace your speaker wires and plug and play with them will you get it right

Did you try changing the station?
I think Irish_Alley has this one covered.

Irish _alley did have it covered. Thanks Dude!!!!!! :)

I did have my brake switch out of the bracket. The memory wire was hooked in to the horn fuse in the panel. It was required for the stereo to turn on. I have tunes and the lights are off.
