What tires do you run on 16x6.5" wheels?

I have a '73 C10 2wd on stock "6.5 - 16 inch" wheels.  I'm wondering what tires you guys use with that rim size and how they handle for ya. 

I've got old, skinny tube tires on right now and would like to replace them.  Thanks

My truck with hub cap type wheels came with 7.50-16 tires.  A lot of people put 235/85R16 on there.  They're usually pretty cheap too.


Those being 6.5" wide rims, you could put some 265/75R16s on there...    Thats what I have.  My wheels are different but they are 16x6.5 so the tire would fit the sae on your wheel.  I believe my 265/75R16's are approximately 31.5" or so actual inches tall.

Thanks for responding so fast.  I just ran out and measured, and the height of the tires is 29" - I'd like to keep the new tires as close to that size as I can.  Would 235/70R16 or 225/75R16 be an option?

I know guys running 315/75 16's on the 88-98 style wheels cuz that's what I have an 88 and want to run those tires on mine, it had 265/75's on it, and now it has 255/70's on it cuz I got 4 of em for $50 and had over 75 percent tread left.

A 255/65R16   would be about 29" and should have a 10" section width.  (depending on manfacturer)  Most tire makers don't list their actual tread width.



My Tire has a 10.5" or so section width for comparison.


Your 6.50-16 Tires would be approximately a (165/100 R16) in Metric.

when I looked it up a 215/85r16 is the replacement for 7.50/16 and a 245/75r16 is the same diameter/hieght. I'm currently looking for new tires as well on an extreme budget, my truck has 235/85r16s on it now and they are too tall, I'd like 245s but LT tires are expensive.

when trying to replace the tires on my 16X7.50lt I found it was cheaper just to get 2000 chevy/gmc 2500hd rims and tires. the rimes cost me $40 each. the tires were around $80 each(though lucky I found a new set of 5  with 2 rims for free) but the main reasion I did this was noone around here will mount tires on the 16X7.50lt rims. unless there tubed bias and they run almost $130 each. that is messed up.

also a nice upgrade in style too ^_^ (don't know whast to do with the 10 or so 16X7.50 rims lol)
