step side bed problems ... I think
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:25:31 pm »
I have changed my bed from an 85 fleetside to an 82 stwpside. I am just getting to the stage where i am bolting this bed down, I have never had it on the truck. I just dont seem to think it is sitting right. It seems to be down in the front. there is a height differance measuring from the top of the bed to the ground. When i measeure the back and than go the the front there is an 1.5 " slope. is this normal? I have checked and re checked and I have all the supports in the correct spots so I have no clue what is wrong... or if anything is even wrong. I would just think that the rails of the bed would be levl on the sides if you where to put a level on them.

How did the fleetside bed sit on the truck, was it level?

Its not going to be level if your frame isn't level to the ground. The gap top to bottom should be the same between the cab, and bed.  The top edge of the bed should line up pretty good with door body line.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
