What would be the best way to lower my 86 Silverado.
Coil springs in front, Leaf springs in rear.

How much do you want to lower it? Are you changing tires or wheels too? In front, I prefer to lower with spindles first then springs. If you want a mild drop go with a 2.5 or 3" spindle. I'm not sure how much more you can go with those tire/wheels.
For the rear a shackle gets you 2", and you can use a hanger kit for a couple more. On the cheap, you can use the stock hanger and raise it up. Any lower and you should do a flip kit.

Spindles are good for a mild drop because you don't need drop shocks. Spindles and springs will put her down 4.5"-5". Lowering the rear 4" or more will require drop shocks. I like a 4.5/6 to get them nice and down.
Depending on mfg it'll run between $500 & $1000 to get your silverado that low.

Spindles in the front so you don't screw up your ride, hanger in the rear.

I don't see why people lift 2 wheel drives. They wanna be 4x4 posers?

i'm in the same boat with my 85 c-10. it sounds like drop spindles in the front and hangers in the back if you wanna drop it a few inches and a flip kit in the back if you wanna drop it 5" or so. does anyone have any pictures of their truck with a 3" drop spindle in the front and a 5" flip kit in the back? that is kinda what i think i wanna do. also i'm on board with 4x4 go up, 2wd go down. my brother wants me to lift my 2wd and put stacks and all this crazy stuff. if it was a 4x4 maybe, 2wd she's goin down and loud. thanks

Here is a couple of pictures of the DJM kit I just did - 3/5 drop. I have not driven it as it isn't aligned. I think the front will settle down some once that is done tho..
Before de-bar'd
Dropped and cleaner. Next, alignment and off to the body shop while I rebuild the motor...

Those are 275/65 15's if I remember correctly.
I only did the spindles and flip kit, no coil spring change or shackles.
Thanks man, I can't wait to get working on the interior and then off to paint, then a 350...

was it a 5" flip kit in the reaer? i looked at summit and they sell a 5" and a 6" flip kit. also was it a 3" drop spindle? summit also sells a 3" or 2.5" drop spindle. just curious, that is exactly the stance i want for mine.
