inline 6 exhaust manifold

 ??? so im putting a used exhaust manifold on my inline other one rusted out ... on the inside there is a flange that opens and closes .. the flange seems to be stuck what is this for .. ?  was it some sort of way to warm the engine faster choke.? lol i have no idea but anyway its closed and i couldnt open it up ...  motor is a 250 inline 6 non integral..

I think it's supposed to heat the intake manifold to help warm up in the winter

yes i just read and found out a little more and that is what it is.. but still dont know why it cant be moved by hand i need to put it on the motor but im sure it being stuck closed is no good lol

If it stuck close it just wont preheat the intake. I would soak it with Pb and se if it can free up

check out inliners.org, they 've helped me good bit with my 292-6.
