Hello, just checking in to say hello to everybody. 

I just purchased the truck that I have wanted since I was 12 years old. It is an '88 model 3+3 silverado pickup, 2 wheel drive, long bed, 350 with TH 400 transmission. My eventual plans are to redo everything on the truck, including installing a cummins turbo diesel engine in it like my brother did to his. 

Q: I was told it was a 3/4 ton, but the title indicates a 1 ton. A good friend of mine told me that all of those year models of that particular body style had 6 lug wheels for 3/4 ton and 8 lug wheels for 1 ton, is that true?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you happen to know the rear leafspring count for a 3/4 vs. 1 ton?

They can vary based on GVW.  I have a 85 C20 and a 85 C30 both have the same count.  My C30 don't have overloads either....

I don't know if this will help any, but the title says: Mfg.capacity in tons 1, and weight 5200?

Is it a R20 or R30 ?  What do then emblems on the side indicate ?

Frame on a 3/4 ton will be 6 inches tall, 8 inches tall on a 1 ton.  Measure it right behind the gas tanks.

Thank you for that information, I knew there had to be a sure way to figure it out. The frame definately measures 8" tall.
