Snow Shovels

Did anyone else have to dust off the old snow shovel today? I realize this may not look like much for people in Cleveland or Buffalo, but for Virginia Beach this is impressive.

haha same here.  It was 34 degrees and barely any ice anywhere and they delayed school for 2 hours this morning.  first time in a long time I got to go out that early on a weekday with virtually no traffic on the road...

Rainman, Chesapeake, Va is only two hrs away from Richmond, we got 2 inches here and school was closed today and it is closed tomorrow.  An early start to their Xmas break, no school til next year.
You guys in Chesapeake may get a few more inches come Saturday night.  We may escape it here, so says the meteorologist, who, being wrong more times than not, are lucky to have a job batting about .100  If I bat .100 at my job, i'd be gone in about 5 minutes.

Anyway, they called for 5 inches here, we got 2, but it was enuf to close schools for two days.

Anything less than a foot with 40 mph winds is business as usual around here. I did smash a big snow pile this morning and broke a headlight adjuster. Now the headlights look like one eye is fishing and the other is diggin' worms.

When we get 2 inches here, were lucky to even get a 2 our delay...

Would be nice to have an early beginning to my x-mas break but i have exams next week so im hoping for no bad weather to screw up the schedule.

About an hour from me the highway was shut down for 3 days, there was about 7 ft drifts, 50+ vehicles stuck, they had helicopters airlifting people out, it was a complete whiteout. they actually found the body of a 41 year old man, he was supposedly about 150ft from his car. Pretty crazy there has been 4 snow days this year already for college and universities, forcing some exams to be moved into the new year. We got 5 ft over about 48 hrs and then it warmed up a little some melted and then we got hit with another 2 ft.

We have had over 40" of snow so far this month and we look at it this way, if you can't get out the driveway, you don't need to go anywhere. lol

I'd probably stay home anyway, as it would suck to ride an open tractor any distance in that kind of weather...

The first time I ever had to dig out my truck, I'd be moving as soon as the moving vans could get to me.  My family in Iowa convinced me of that when they went out and dug out 2 other cars before they found theirs.  Yeah I had to help.  Yeah I was PO'd.

We got our share here in Dayton OH. I work in vehicle maintenance for the County water dept.  We're pretty busy......... No staying at home is not an option.

It took me 6 hours to dig out Monday.  I had snow up to the hood of my car, drifts mainly.  Nice base of ice all before it started.

8-10 inches and the country grinds to a halt 

The gritters spread grit/salt but it doesn't work, the trains don't run and I can't get to work! Unfortunately I can work from home and that's what the boss expects.

My "office" is -8 degs and no heater  so no progress on the truck

Calling for a major snowstorm for Virginia the upcoming weekend.  According to my calendar, that would mean a White Christmas.   hmmmmm.
