Tire Size Opinions

Hi all, sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I’m thinking about getting a new set of tires for my pickup after Christmas and was wondering if you guys could give me some opinions about what size to get. My truck is an ’86 K20 Scottsdale with the 350 and 3 speed auto tranny and 4.10 gears. It’s got a 4” lift and its running 16” rims, which I’ve noticed narrows the selection for AT/MT tires. I’m on a somewhat restricted budget and would like to stay with my current rims. The truck sees about 60% town/highway and 40% trail/yard usage, it isn't my daily driver. What would you guys suggest for a tire size? Open to opinions on brand/make as well. Thanks, Josh

If you are not opposed to high quality retreads, I know guys that have run these in extreme conditions and love them. The company was called Hi Tech Retreads, but is now called Tread Wright. They offer lots of 16in tire options.

  Those are half the price of the bfg's! Let us know how they turn out if you get them. The Warden looks identical to bfg, and the other one just looks mean.

I've actually looked into these and know someone who runs the "Guard Dogs" on his F250. He regularly plows and tows a car trailer and they have held up great.
General opinion seems to be to go with a 33" tires and this is along the lines of what I was thinking, just didn't know if it was a good idea or not with the 4.10 gears. I'm not really worried to much about gas millage as this isn't my daily driver, it currently get about 10 mpg with 245/75/16 Goodyear MTR's.

General grabber AT2's are a really great tire, Almost the same tread as the BFG's and less money and they ride great, I've been having problems with the last two sets of BFG's on the wifes s10 becoming out of round, They are rotated and balanced on a regular basis and they always develop a shake.

Generals compared to the BFG's 2 different sizes though. I bought these for my jeep.

33" tall tire at a minimum.  285/75R16  is a 33".

if you got 4 inches of lift i'd go with a 35" tire..look a whole lot better than 33s lol

also something that you can think about is humvee tires I got a set of 37s for my truck now I think it might look a little silly only being 12.5 wide, got used to the 16s but at 75 a pop and 162 shipped it was only 462 for all four. now 37s might be too big but they do make 36
