My 75 Chevy SWB project

Well after searching for a a few months I finally found me a good project truck for my truck build.  It's a 1975 Chevrolet fleetside swb with a inline 6 and a 3 on the tree.  I took it in through some horsetrading, runs a but rough and needs some brake work but it's what I've been looking for.  The previous owner started some of the bodywork which I'll be finishing after the holidays.  So far my plans are to fix it's little problems and drive it a bit while I aquire/build me a motor for it, I'm thinking about building a good strong abc for the time being then later build a lsx motor for it.  Will post up some pictures in a few.

Well I appreciate the comments and definitely plan on doing both, right now im in GA visiting family but as soon as the holidays are over I'll be hitting it hard.  First will be rebuilding the carb with the rebuild kit that came with the truck, then fix the brakes so it doesn't pull so hard to the right.  Also need to fix the motor for the heater being as it is bad off.  Afterwards I can start finishing the body work.

No not yet, been taking car of little things here and there, got to go to the junk yard here and snatch the brackets off of the truck I got the 292 emblem from so I can mount the new one in my truck. 

Right now just looking for fenders being as the rust is pretty bad around the wheel wells.  My dash pad is pretty bad too, just finding a non cracked on in a junk yard is slim, a new one from   is almost $300.  Let me know about the motor and what kinda tranny?

Not really to much of an update yet but picked up the center support that mounts where the grill for a 73 truck, along with the side mount points which have hole monks on the 75 pickup so all I need to do is drill the holes and mount them then I can run my 73 grill in the truck to give it a nice look when I'm done.  Plan on trying to get some of the bodywork done this weekend, as well as pin pointing my brake problem.

So today I decided to tinker with the toy today since it is nice out and have already decided to replace the drivers side fender being as the rot around the wheel well is shot and the door is got tons of bondo on it, so I decided to finish some body work on the rear bed panel.  I was taking off the old cracked bondo when I decovered the rot is worst than I expected, so I'm undecided to weather a find another bed being as both sides I beleive are the same and there is some rot in the floor near the tailgate.  Them another option is a replacement arch panel from   for $20 a side, or just do my best to patch it.  Which do you guys think would be the best decision.  Pictures below to show extent of damage.

The bed looks to be in pretty good shape from the above pics so, i would patch it and chris here sells patch panels as well...

Just picked up some new shoes for it today off of craigslist for $200.  Now just got to figure out what size tire to run on them, they are 15x8's

Alright finally made up my mind on how I plan to do the truck.  The wheels kinda helped on that, my plans are to bag it and rat rod it.  I still want to do body work but may wait on some of it til after I do the suspension and motor.  Still undecided on if I want to start with a sbc or go with an lsx.  I might try to find a bigger size for these style wheels.  I put my junkyard special 73 grill in today with the center support and side supports, just drill two holes for the side supports and installed to get the look, will remove soon to paint it.  Too bad no one makes the center sticker emblem for these grills.  I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow when I have some daylight to show you how she looks.  She sits lower being as I went with a lower profile tires.  Plan to start the bag work after my deployment in July so beginning of next year hardcore work begins.  Now just got to figure where to go for my suspension components, any and all suggestions for where to look would be greatly appreciated being as this will be my first time doing bags myself.  I have helped friends in the past but it's been a while.
