My Rides & Introduction

I guess this thread is going to be half me introducing myself, and half me posting my rides so be patient with me!

Hi everyone, My name is Spencer and I'm from the little town of Floyd, Virginia.  Floyd is in the south western corner of Va about 45 minutes below Roanoke, right on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I'm 20, turning 21 this March.  I love  73 - 87 Chevy K10s, I guess I have the square body fever because they're the only trucks I'll drive :p

Lets get to my trucks.

Truck #1 is a 84 Chevy Scottsdale.  Small block 305, 4 barrel carb ,short bed, 105k miles.  Everything on this truck is stock just because I work 7 days a week and don't really have time to add to it.  I did do some repair though.  New exhaust system, gas tank, adjusted the timing, adjusted the carb, new windshield wiper motor, New brakes, changed the oil, and completely redid the 4WD system (took it all apart, greased and lubed it, then put it back together). 

It's my daily driver and I love it, but I'm putting up for sale soon because I just bought Truck #2 and I don't need to own both. So on to truck 2...


Truck #2 is a 78 Chevy Scottsdale.  I don't know why but it seems I'm always buying Scottsdales.  Small block 350 totally rebuilt, 4 barrel carb, short bed, only 60k miles and almost rust-free!  I paid $1600 for it, I figured with only 60k miles and with almost no rust (which we all know how rare a rust free 73 - 87 chevy is) that that was a pretty dang good asking price.  This truck has an interesting story to it too.  The original owner was a road tractor driver.  He drove his big rig most of his time, and the last thing he wanted to do when he got home was to drive around some more hence the low mileage.  Well he drove his big rig so much he got blood clots in his legs, got gangrene and had to have both of his legs amputated.  With no legs he didn't drive the truck at all and it just sat in a shed for the next 25 years.  Eventually the guy died leaving the truck to his grandson who just sold it to a mechanic friend of mine for dirt cheap.  From were it had been sitting for 25 years all the valves and gaskets etc had frozen up or dry rotted out so he basically replaced all the valves and gaskets etc and overhauled the engine.  Now the engine runs fantastic and a compression test showed everything is great.  My mechanic friend is about 35 vehicles behind in his work so he sold me the truck for $1600, which is what he had in it in parts and labor.  I feel like I'm getting a pretty good deal.

As you can see in the pictures below the paint/body is almost completely rust free and in great shape.  It has fog lights, a super good spotlight, visor, chrome gravel guards, Chrome handles to get into the truck, and rubber bumper guards.  Some of that is stock, and some of that was put on by the original owner when he bought it.  All sorts of extra goodies!  My plan is to put what little work it needs into making the body perfect, then I'll give it a modest 3" - 6" lift and some larger tires.  Any other ideas guys?

I have to sell the 84    It's partially whats paying for the 78.  As much as I'd really really like to keep both, I simply don't have enough money to do that.  I'm sad to see the 84 go but its paying for a sick 78 that is in near mint condition, so I'm letting it go for a good reason

welcome from verona va. im about 1 1/2hr north of roanoke. nice trucks. btw that wouldnt be a 3rd gen firebird behind the 78 would it?
