i wanna check my fluid level in my ol transfer case. is there a standard way? or is it like differentials? just stick ur finger in the plug hole. also does anyone have a clever way to fill it? fluid into that little hole just looks challenging. and in the event that those are easy answers........can u tell me what makes transfer cases a battle to shift? mine used to be easy as pie. now i am the guy u see in the mud trying to force it around. thanks in advance for educating a newbie like me......

Finger/hole. Get a funnel with a flexible end or use a clean gear oil bottle with the nipple tip. Remember to put 10w30 or 10w40, not gear oil in the 203.

Lube up the levers with PB blaster or similar. Take the time and clean crud off of it too. Easy to do it from the top, just remove the boot.

You can use a hot water bottle from your local drugstore.  The are very flexible, a good length of hose and can hold a precise amount.  Works great for transfer cases, differentials etc.
